Hello, I’m Aurélie, the founder of Nutura.
Supporting You in your Breastfeeding Journey
What NUTURA specialises in
Nutura is not a general parenting platform.
It is built around two specialisations: the areas where I believe Mauritian mothers are most underserved, and where the right support at the right moment makes the greatest difference:
Breastfeeding & Lactation
Evidence-based support from the first latch through to weaning: Milk supply, positioning, mixed feeding, lactation nutrition, and the questions that don’t get answered clearly in a 10-minute clinic visit.
Baby Sleep
Gentle, developmentally appropriate sleep guidance that respects your baby’s biology and your family’s reality. No rigid programmes. No cry-it-out unless that is your informed choice. Support that starts with understanding what is developmentally normal before it starts with schedules.
Alongside these two pillars, Nutura covers pregnancy, postpartum recovery, starting solids, and infant nutrition, with a natural, evidence-based lens that draws on the medicinal plants and foods of our own climate: moringa, fenugreek, ginger, turmeric.
The Approach
Natural: but evidence-based
Nutura draws on WHO guidelines, peer-reviewed research, and the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine protocols. It also draws on the plants growing in our own gardens. These are not contradictory sources. They belong together.
Local: built for Mauritius
Advice here accounts for what is available here, what is affordable here, and what Mauritian family culture actually looks like. Not translated content from the UK or US, adjusted for a different food system and a different support network.
Honest about what I am and am not.
I am not yet a fully certified IBCLC. I am not a doctor. Nutura is an educational platform and every article tells you clearly when a question needs a healthcare provider, not a blog post.
Une Histoire Personnelle
My name is Aurélie. I built Nutura during my first pregnancy, bedridden in Mauritius, unable to find a single resource made for my food, my culture, my reality.
I had hyperemesis gravidarum. I lost 10 kilograms in my first trimester. A uterine fibroid that was 2 centimetres when I became pregnant grew to 13 centimetres and stayed there. At 23 weeks, a partial placental detachment was found on ultrasound. My OB/GYN gave me a target of 32 weeks, the point at which a baby’s lungs are developed enough to survive. Any week beyond that would be a bonus.
I gave birth at 39 weeks. Naturally induced contractions, followed by a C-section because the fibroid was blocking my baby’s descent.
None of that was what I had imagined. All of it is why Nutura exists.
Because when I was searching, scared, bedridden, in the middle of a complicated pregnancy in Mauritius, I found nothing that was made for me. Very few local lactation consultants I could easily find. No evidence-based information adapted to our food culture. No one who had been through what I was going through and could tell me what to expect next.
Nutura is that resource now.
