Description
Pregnancy comes with an enormous number of things to think about, organise, book, research, and decide. And unlike most major life events, it happens on a timeline you cannot fully control, sometimes with very little notice, sometimes in the middle of an already full life.
The Ultimate Pregnancy Checklist was designed to take the overwhelm out of that process.
One page. Four stages. Every step laid out in the order it needs to happen, so you are never wondering what you should have done two weeks ago, and never feeling like you are behind.
What the checklist covers
First trimester — weeks 1 to 13: The steps that matter most in those early, private, sometimes frightening first weeks. Confirming your pregnancy and calculating your due date. Booking your first prenatal visit in Mauritius. Starting folic acid and prenatal vitamins. Understanding which foods to avoid. Tracking your symptoms. Beginning to research your birth options — because it is never too early to understand what is available to you on this island.
Second trimester — weeks 14 to 27: The golden stretch, and the trimester with the most to organise. Your anatomy scan. Monitoring baby movements. Gentle exercise and self-care. Beginning to research baby gear, nursery setup, and safe sleep. Learning the basics of breastfeeding before the baby arrives — because the time to learn is before, not during. Building your baby budget. Planning safe sleep.
Third trimester — weeks 28 to 40: The final countdown. Packing your hospital bag for your Mauritius clinic. Learning the signs of labour and understanding the 5-1-1 rule. Preparing your important documents. Getting your home ready. Writing your birth preferences. Arranging your postpartum support network. And — perhaps the most important item on the entire list — resting and taking care of yourself.
Postpartum recovery — weeks 0 and beyond: Because pregnancy preparation does not end at birth. Monitoring your body and healing. Caring for stitches or your C-section scar. Staying hydrated and nourished. Prioritising your mental health. Accepting help. Healing at your own pace.
Why a checklist matters
Pregnancy involves dozens of decisions, appointments, and preparations spread across nine months. Many of them have time-sensitive windows — the NT scan must happen between weeks 11 and 13, the anatomy scan between weeks 20 and 22, the hospital bag should be ready by week 36. Without a clear overview, it is easy to miss a window or feel perpetually behind.
This checklist gives you the map. You still walk the journey in your own way, at your own pace but you know where you are going.
It also gives you something quieter but equally important: permission to take it one step at a time. Pregnancy is not a performance. You do not need to do everything perfectly, or immediately, or the way someone else did it. You need to do the right things in roughly the right order, and everything else can wait.
How to use it
Download and save to your phone, you will want it accessible at any moment.
Print it at home on standard A4 paper for a satisfying paper version you can actually tick.
Share it with your partner or support person so you are both working from the same picture.
Return to it at the start of each trimester to see what is coming next and feel the satisfaction of everything you have already ticked.
